Blogger

In February of 2003, Google acquired Pyra Labs, a company that makes it easy for you to create your own blog. ("Blog" is a combination of the words "Web" and "log".) A blog can be many things:

Your blog is whatever you want it to be. In simple terms, a blog is a web site, where you write stuff on an ongoing basis. New stuff shows up at the top, so your visitors can read what's new. Then they comment on it or link to it or email you. Or not. Since blogging was introduced almost five years ago, blogs have reshaped the web, impacted politics, shaken up journalism, and enabled millions of people to have a voice and connect with others.

Group blogs can be excellent communication tools for small teams, families, or other groups. Give your group its own space on the web for sharing news, links, and ideas. Google's Blogger, available at www.blogger.com/start makes available the tools you need to create and maintain a Blog. You can post items directly into it or send e-mail postings and have them added automatically. You can post photos to your blog. There's even a feature, called AudioBlogger, that lets you call Blogger from any phone and leave a message that is immediately posted to your site as an MP3 audio file.

Apparently Google hasn't done anything with the Blogger since buying it except to put a link to the program on the "more»" page, but it is available, free (and fun).
