Part III - Moving Photos From Camera to Computer

  1. This is much simpler than it may appear
  2. There are several ways to do it
    1. If your camera has a USB port
      1. Connect the camera to your computer using a USB cable
      2. Turn the camera on
      3. Open My Computer (Start > My Computer)
      4. The memory card will apppear as a new disk drive (usually E:)
      5. Left double-click to open it and find the folder containing the photos
      6. Left click on the first photo and Shift Left click on the last, highlighting them all
      7. In the File and Folder Tasks box on the top left, choose either Move Selected Files and Copy Selected Files, according to your preference
      8. Indicate the folder (My Pictures?) to which you want to move or copy the photos
      9. Left click on the Move (or Copy) button
      10. You're done!

    2. If your computer has built-in slots for memory cards
      1. Remove the memory card from your camera
      2. Insert it into the proper slot on the computer
      3. Proceed as in steps A.3 through A.10 above

    3. If you have a memory card reader
      1. Plug the memory card reader into a USB port on your computer
      2. Remove the memory card from your camera
      3. Insert it into the proper slot on the memory card reader
      4. Proceed as in steps A.3 through A.10 above

    4. If you have software that came with your camera
      1. Don't use it!
